CMJ Music Marathon: Day 2 Picks

Day 2…

Black Light Dinner Party

11PM @ Pianos,158 Ludlow Street
New York, NY 10002 (10.17.12) (Find Tix)

We’ve actually already featured Black Light Dinner Party as a band to look out for in our Three Things blog. Check out another track, “Older Together” from this indie-synth group to pull you into their warm and inviting sound. - CC

DJing Between Sets - Brooklyn Bowl, 61 Wythe Avenue, Brooklyn, NY 11211 (10.17.12) ($5 At Door)

Both a remixer and producer, Josh Legg hails from Los Angeles and makes chillwave tunes under the moniker, Goldroom. The song “Fifteen” featuring Chela is the perfect soundtrack for pretty-sunset-warm-feeling-boardwalk stuff. - CC

Capital Cities

7:30PM @ Union Hall, 702 Union Street @ 5th Avenue, BK, 11215 (10.17.12) (Tickets At Door bro)

(Also 10.18 @ Santos Party House, 10.19 @ Tammany Hall)

Capital Cities is a synth dance duo. The project started when they were jingle writers who first met on Craigslist. Their lead single “Safe and Sound” shot to #2 on Hype Machine, #1 on CMJ’s A&R chart and #1 on South American radio. They have a full band to round out their live sound and are in the studio finishing up their anticipated debut album. We caught up with them this summer at Bunbury Music Festival, so check that out. - CC

Strange Talk

11:59pm @ Mercury Lounge, 217 East Houston Street Manhattan, NY 10002 (10.17.12) (Get Tix)

(Also 10.19 @ Terminal 5)

Strange Talk is an electropop band hailing from Melbourne, Australia. Their sound has been likened to that of Passion Pit, Yeasayer, Phoenix, and Cut Copy. So if that sounds good to you, give them a listen.
